Windows 10

Yes You Can Get A Free Upgrade To Windows 10

So Microsoft is advertising to all Windows 7 and 8/8.1 users that they can reserve a free copy of Windows 10 with a new icon in the notifications area of the taskbar.  Sounds awesome, right?  Yep, all you have to do is trust Microsoft that they have created an upgrade program that will swap out your operating system, its programs and your documents, photos, music etc.  What could go wrong?

Microsoft did something similar a while back with forcing an upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 that didn’t go well for many.  Some lost everything, while others just lost data or programs.  For the most part, Microsoft finally got it right after a lot of growing pains.   This upgrade to 10 is a bigger deal than the 8>8.1 upgrade.  There are so many questions that have yet to be answered.

The good news is that the free upgrade to Windows 10 will be available for a year after its anticipated launch date, July 29th.  Many others will unknowingly become test cases and blaze the trail for all the smart players that will wait until the bugs are ironed out.

So, ignore the weird new icon in in your taskbar and let others live on the edge with their data and programs.  So, yes you can get a free upgrade to Windows 10, but don’t do it just yet.
