Its time to upgrade Microsoft XP.
As of April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer offer security upgrades or patches for its 13 year old operating system, Microsoft XP. A lot has changed since XP was released with the Internet, technology and mobile computing and XP was never designed to work in todays computing environment. While there were good reasons to hang on to it, its now time to upgrade Microsoft XP.
To drive this point home, Microsoft representatives at the recent RSA Conference in Amsterdam mentioned that computers running Windows XP are six times more likely to be hacked than computers running Windows 7 or Windows 8. The likelihood of XP being hacked after next April will certainly increase significantly since nothing will be done by Microsoft to fix security holes discovered by hackers.
Thankfully, there are still some Windows 7 computers available, mainly desktops, and Windows 8 has proven to be a very good operating system if its set up initially the ‘right’ way.
