Java Update Available
Yesterday Oracle released a security update for its Java platform that addresses at 20 vulnerabilities in the software. PC users should consider this update to be CRITICAL to their computers security. The update is fixes security issues that could be exploited over a network without the need for a username and password. Many times these patches are plugging holes that cyber criminals are currently using to gain access to your private information !! Kind of a big deal, so its important to patch it.
Prairie Star Technology clients who subscribe to the Complete Computer Care Managed Services Program do not have to worry. This critical security update should already be loaded and installed before reading this!!
For everyone else, the update process for Java is manual. You should get a notifications that there is a Java update available. These usually pop up in the lower right hand corner of the computer screen. You can also click on the icon in the lower right hand corner that will ‘Show Hidden Icons” and click on the orange Java update icon. Its also important that previous versions of Java are removed. This update is called Java 7 Update 65. If there are previous versions, uninstall them ASAP. Here are instructions on how to uninstall a program, just CLICK HERE.
